From the tiny antique shops brimming with discoveries to the larger lifestyle experiences of Jordan Creek Town Center in Des Moines, shopping in Iowa is a unique experience.

Residents know they can find the big box stores like Best Buy, Target and WalMart as well as regional stores like Von Maur, Younkers and Hy-Vee. Unique treasures can be found at the locally owned shops in every town, whether it’s home décor, clothing, specialty items or antiques. The Iowa Artisans Gallery offers incredibly beautiful creations by Iowa artists. Warm weather months offer Farmers Markets with locally grown foods, plants and homemade crafts.

Jordan Creek Town Center in West Des Moines is Iowa’s biggest shopping center. More than just shopping, there are restaurants, movie theater and a beautiful outdoor pond in the middle of the center with walking paths, koi pond and fountains.

Looking for a place for the kids to play? The Coral Ridge Mall in Coralville houses the Iowa Children’s Museum, movie theater, carousel, ice rink and plenty of stores for the big “kids” to play.

Iowa’s smaller towns have great shopping experiences tucked away on their main streets or town squares. Those antique stores and specialty shops are worthy of a day-trip or a weekend getaway.

Bargain hunters can hit the Tanger Factory Outlet Center in Williamsburg or the Factory Stores of America outlet center north of Des Moines in Story City. Both offer brand-name stores and discounted prices.
