Ambience Mixed

I was thinking of scene transitions for movies when I wrote this. Maybe a guy heading down the road in his convertible running away from a life he never wanted. Picture a desert at sunrise.

This photo was captured just after sunrise on a foggy morning in Richmond, IA. We are fortunate enough to see this “Iowan” view from our back window every morning!

Heat of the Night

Heat of the Night

“In the heat of the night” was taken on a very foggy December night in front of the Iowa State Capitol Building. The soldier and the Indians statue is silhouetted by a lamp. This placed first in the “Iowa Places” category at the 2008 Iowa State Fair photography competition.

Pelicans

Pelicans

Each year, 10’s of thousands of migrating American White Pelicans stop at the Coralville Reservoir to feed and gain strength to continue their voyage. For several years now, we have taken a canoe up river past them and then drifted down thru the pelicans. As we float past them, we are photographing them in various activities, including: line feeding, resting, flying and landing on the reservoir.
